@eigononinja Hill sprints work your heart big time by forcing it to deal with a much wider range of beats per minute. You don’t get that range, or the intensity/recovery cycle from steady state cardio.

@yandykun Hill sprints don’t really hit the heart, more the lungs and legs!

@ramusic10 I appreciate the feedback. Its a good steep hill and 35 seconds is a hard piece of work trying to go full out. I might have some improvements this way cause of less stress per interval.

@yandykun First, always be realistic about your current level of fitness and build gradually and safely from there.

Who’s in better shape, me or your doctor? Your heart will be healthier if you put it through a broader range of beats per minute than if you just elevate it a bit and hold it steady there. Look at the body of a powerful sprinter compared to a marathoner. I’m 62 now and still do hill sprints and various other high intensity interval workouts 3 times a week.

@shkotay Try making each sprint shorter, 20 seconds max. Not even Olympic sprinters can go longer than about 20 seconds full out. The 200 meter race is a full out sprint, the 400 and everything longer involves pacing. The idea with high intensity intervals is to go full out each interval.

I hear ya. I have a 125 yard steep hill near my place. I manage 5 sprints to the top, 10 pushups each sprint, a walk down and a 1-2 min rest between sprints. I just cant seem to get it under that time lol! 35-40 sec run up (its takes that long) maybe a 2 min walk back (cause I am hald dead by the 3rd run usually lol), and a 1 min rest

@iamgabrielf High intensity intervals definitely wotk. You’re wise to begin slowly, and gradually increase the intensity as you improve. Always be realistic about your current fitness level, and look to improve slowly but surely.

@FJDynamicDuo There’s a great cardio workout you can do indoors with very little space. I can’t enter the link in a reply here, but look up “girl with no name,” then search her site for robert martin and you’ll find it.

You don’t need much room to do the exercises I do. My system was created for working out in hotel rooms. Check the other videos on my youtube channel.

Dr. Mercola recommended Phil Campbell. It seems reasonable so I will try it slowly. I hope it works.

Great video man. I agree that hill sprints are by far the best cardio exercise. Plus they provide a KILLER workout for the whole lower body. I do them 3x a week myself. You are in better shape than me though because you get it done in 15 minutes. Right now it takes me 25 minutes to get through ten 75 yard hill sprints. I need a bit more recovery time in between sprints. My goal is to eventually be where you are at.
