HTC T-Mobile G1 Extended Battery 2300 mAh. Where to Buy, Weight Tests

Title:

HTC T-Mobile G1 Extended Battery 2300 mAh. Where to Buy, Weight Tests

I conducted a week-long test on my new 2300 mAh extended battery bought on eBay. After medium use of browser, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and phone calls (maybe 12 hours total), I am happy to report that the G1′s low battery life with the OEM battery (that comes with the phone) has been resolved! With just three hours left to three full days, I had 7% remaining power. Three days is far better than the 12 to 15 hours use I might be lucky to get with the OEM battery. Best part is that the battery and cover cost total (shipping included) on eBay! I provide the link to the seller on eBay, in the video. But in case that does not show up, it’s eBay seller meig2006 I was a bit cautious of buying a battery from a Chinese seller (lots of low quality batteries coming from China, as you know), but this seller had great feedbacks from people who had bought this exact setup. Besides, at it was worth the gamble. As a bonus in the video I conduct weight comparisons on a postal scale of the phone with the OEM and extended batteries. Here is the link to the eBay seller I mention: tinyurl.com Also see for all things HTC: htcpedia.com

@sdsurfgirl … You are kidding right? I spent about two minutes saying where to get it.

Go on eBay and search for seller “meig2006″ and his auctions will show up. As of July 15, 2010 he shows 1588 items for sale. So he’s still in business.

does this battery really increase the life that much longer?

oh but still would have been better if the battery was better hopefully i get it tomorrow and 1 more question does the other battery the one you got on ebay make the phone really wide or can you still fit it in some cases

So why don’t Apple, HTC and BlackBerry put in bigger batteries? Because they don’t want to sell phones that are huge. People want small phones, not bigger ones.

So even if they said “our phone needs the bigger battery” people will opt for the competitor’s smaller phone.

No one wants to be the first to produce phones with properly sized batteries.

On any smartphone with all features, including a big display there’s complaints on the net about battery life with the stock battery.

YES… but so does the battery life on the iphone and other smartphones that have lots of battery draining features.

The G1 is better in terms of the battery issue since unlike the iPhone it can be replaced with a spare and/or one can get an extended battery.

The iPhone’s battery can be removed with a lot of work and special tools, but that’s not a solution.

People simply don’t realize how much battery power the phones use when WiFi, BlueTooth, GPS and video are being used.

does the battery really suck that bad for the g1 i mean the stock battery

If you mean OBEX file transfer then, yes, sadly the G1 doesn’t support it as standard. If you root the device there is an app called Bluex on the market which enables it though
