  5. HakuCell
    September 25th, 2010 at 20:39 | #5

one of my friends told me that you should keep your elbows not only near your hips but even against your hips.. is that right?

I was a little skeptical that this could be better than my tri pushdown method, but, OMG, those were the BEST sets I;’ve done in months! I can feel it two days later and I KNOW my tris are gonna GROW and GROW! Thanks!

what supplements are you currently using?

    September 25th, 2010 at 22:07 | #8

@alfidino Yeah those are pretty much the standards. The trick is knowing what exercises are working the different heads of the triceps. All I would add to those three is skullcrushers, or laying down extensions. But after each set rep out with some close grip bench when you do skullcrushers, it’ll burn like hell lol.

@TheWinningGambler Your reply actually makes sense cos I read somewhere that you need to work on the major and minor muscle like bicep and back etc.

  14. alfidino
    September 25th, 2010 at 23:51 | #14

@Drum3r541 Well I do tricep overheads, tricep dips , tricep presses.

  15. BigNWide
    September 26th, 2010 at 00:31 | #15

@TheWinningGambler How do you think this exercise will injure the back? He’s pushing *down*, which means the resistance is upwards, not downwards. The back is therefore extended, not stressed, by the posture Scott recommends. This would be bad form for a biceps curl, but not for a triceps pushdown.

@Altarcraft nah this exercise has nothing to do with how we position our legs, as long as the arms r in the correct form. he said himself he just prefer to stand with both legs together :)

@stonefist911 look on ebay there cheaper there you don’t have to get the exact same one as this guy just get one that attatches to your door

  27. energy2bless
    September 26th, 2010 at 07:20 | #27

@stonefist911 Any way that you can find to do pull ups will work with P90X. You will be doing a few different grips on the bar, but just get one wide enough to do wide grip pull ups at least.

  28. stonefist911
    September 26th, 2010 at 08:12 | #28

Do I have to buy a P90X bar for P90X, or can I buy a cheaper pull up bar

    Good video.

    September 26th, 2010 at 09:20 | #30

@SelejX On the p90x videos, you will see the workouts being done 3 different ways. One guy will not use a chin up bar, but show you how to do the workouts with a band. You should get p90x, it will change your life.

    September 26th, 2010 at 09:36 | #31

@shah80145 total thickness of door and frame should be 4-7″. the frame itself should be more than a 1/4″. If you have a thinner frame or no frame at all, use the J-hooks that come with the bar.

    September 26th, 2010 at 10:04 | #32

I have the same issue as the top of my door frame goes into the ceiling. There is no extra wall, just frame then ceiling. Does that mean I’m sol and have to find an alternative to being able to do pull pus. If so, does that mean P90X won’t be useful to me as I won’t be able to partake in that part of the workout?

  33. mytime321
    September 26th, 2010 at 10:58 | #33

I’m about to start P90X. Guess I have to wait a few weeks to start using the chin up bar. I’m a little over 300 lbs. Another motivation point

  34. energy2bless
    September 26th, 2010 at 11:12 | #34

@Chino956 No, I have not had any issues. If you are worried about how soft your doorframe is, you can use a folded piece of cloth to protect it.

    September 26th, 2010 at 11:33 | #35

does it mess up your door in anyway?

  36. mrfrosty8172
    September 26th, 2010 at 12:18 | #36

my doorway(closet) is small and only 1 side of the lil curved parts rests on the door frame so it makes and indention on the door frame

    i weight 280
and i do the assisted pull-ups
so really its not 280lbs pulling on the bar
(just in case my fellow fatties are scared to buy it)

ohh yea u forgot too mention that u can do dips with the bar

and i slide mine under the bed to were the curves are underneath the bed frame
and then i do sit ups (keeps ur feet down)

I ordered mine, plus a yoga mat and a push-up stands (handles) on Sunday.
They shipped it on Monday and I received it today (Wednesday).

And shipping was only $12 :)

I have a question for anyone that lives in canada. If you ordered the p90x chin up bar how long was the shipping to anywhere in canada?

Pretty much all of my doorways are in the corner of a room. I’m worried about this because I’m afraid the outer ends of the bar will bump against the perpendicular wall and I won’t be able to use it.

  44. Aarone36
    September 26th, 2010 at 16:42 | #44

ok cool, thanks for telling me, no i dont have another door that has a frame for it to rest on. Im in university halls, and i think the architect was on crack when designing it lol
    thanks :)

  45. energy2bless
    September 26th, 2010 at 16:46 | #45

Yes, this is a problem because the bar needs to rest on the top side of the door frame. Do you have another door that you can use?

  46. Aarone36
    September 26th, 2010 at 16:47 | #46

after the top of my door frame, i have no wall. It just goes door frame, then ceiling, would that be a problem?

hope i explained that well :)

Use them if you think that your door is to weak or your trim is to thin. Be sure to screw them into a stud or they will fall right out.
