GOOD: Ecogym

Besides the obvious perks of having rock-solid abs, chances are you go to the gym because it makes you feel good. But nothing kills that post-workout buzz like contemplating the environmental impact of traditional gyms—the air conditioning, the cardio machines, the thousands of tiny towels that are washed daily. But Manuel de Arriba Ares, a retired Spanish gym teacher, has come up with an alternative: all the exercise equipment in his gimnasio ecológico requires no electricity and is made entirely of recycled materials. At Ares’s gym, lowering your impact is no sweat.

Ooooh…. Boy I feel dumb =]
@Grin8 mirandese not mandarin >->
hes a spanish teacher
He’s from Spain, so hes obviously speaking Spanish.
And Mandarin is Chinese, so I don’t think its a common language in Portugal….
Too bad this would never work in North America because some jackass would hurt themselves and sue.
Nice effort by the dude, but i’m pretty sure have those equipment can kill u in some way when working out.
OK, before I made this comment, I researched Portugal… Common language is… Portuguese & mandarin… Why is he speaking Spanish? I would know I know Spanish….
nice idea, got to give credit to the old man
get off your lazy ass and make one
It would be awesome — well, it is, but even more so if I had one of these in my backyard!
and then they have a soccer field beside it, then a basketball. Soon a tennis court lol. One idea leads to another
whatever the gym is made of it only makes sense to have exercise bikes and running machines power the tvs in front of them. if you want to watch the OC then RUN FATTY RUN.
clever, but seriously…
The public exercise equipment in China is made of steel, aluminum and plastics.
Considering the life of the equipment, its heavy and frequent use, and cheap mass production costs.. its worth the $ and eco-footprint costs.
why the “hahaha”?
hahahah
nice nice, good job!
Pretty nifty. I hope something like this can catch on in other places worldwide.
I bet this gym can also ruin your credit.
its cool but,
in a non-functional way
awesome
wow, four years – that’s some dedication! =] and look at the results – seems like a really good idea.
